CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE
- ID EXCELLENT STATE — What's a state of excellence you want more of? — eg tranquility, calmness, self-confidence (TCS for short)
- SET UP COE — Imagine on the floor, there's a circle — precisely where these feelings live.
- If you'd give the circle a color, what would it be? — eg purple circle with tranquility, calmness, self-confidence inside
- ACCESS & ANCHOR — Step into the circle — TCS, you may notice some sound, tone, feelings, TCS flowing from the soles of your feet to the top of your head
- SEPARATOR STATE — Step out of the circle
- Calibrate — spell your name backwards
- TESTING — Step back in. Step back out.
- Calibrate — What's your zip code backwards?
- DESIRED CONTEXT — Think about a challenging context.
- CHAINING — Step back into the circle, you're there, doing what you want to do. Enjoy that.
- Not the same? add the differences into the circle → blended state of excellence.
- TESTING — Try another context. What was there?
Combining Circle of Excellence with Kinesthetic Anchoring
- Choose an Excellent State: What’s a state of excellence you want to experience more often, such as confidence or relaxation?
- Create the Circle: Imagine a circle on the floor in front of you, big enough to step into. You can mark it out physically if you prefer.
- Relax and Breathe: Take a moment to relax, clear your mind, and breathe deeply.
- Elicit the Resource State: Recall a specific moment when you felt the desired state intensely. Visualize it vividly, including sights, sounds, and feelings.
- Project Feelings into the Circle: Imagine projecting those intense feelings into the circle. Visualize the color, texture, and qualities that symbolize this state.
- Step into the Circle: When the feelings are at their peak, step into the circle. Intensify the feelings even more, fully embodying the resourceful state.
- Apply the Kinesthetic Anchor: While in the circle and at the peak of the resourceful state, press the second knuckle of your ring finger with your thumb. This will serve as your kinesthetic anchor.
- Reinforce the Anchor: Step out of the circle and return to a neutral state. Repeat the process several times to reinforce the anchor. Each time you step into the circle and press the knuckle, the resourceful state should become more accessible.
- Test the Anchor: Once the anchor is well-established, test it by pressing the knuckle outside of the circle to see if it triggers the desired state.
